About this curriculum

This suite consolidates and restructures SmartBones Academy's existing skin-science training assets — anatomy and physiology references, the Pastiche-style diagnostic method, and the Integrative Dermal Clinician outline — into three sequential, professionally accredited courses. Each course shares a single clinical philosophy so that a student progressing from Course 1 through Course 3 experiences one continuous framework rather than three unrelated syllabi.

Shared methodology: the corneotherapy four-stage sequence

Every therapy protocol in this curriculum — regardless of course level — is built on the same repair hierarchy, taught first in Course 1 and applied with increasing clinical depth in Courses 2 and 3.

1Stage 1

Barrier Repair

Restore pH (4.5–5.5), replenish physiological lipids (ceramide : cholesterol : free fatty acid ≈ 3:1:1), and support the natural moisturising factor.

2Stage 2

Normalise

Reduce pathological cytokine activity (IL-1, TNF-α, IL-6) and remove ongoing irritant or allergenic triggers.

3Stage 3

Targeted / Dermal Support

Introduce keratolytics, pigment-pathway actives, or fibroblast-stimulating ingredients only once the barrier and inflammatory picture are stable.

4Stage 4

Maintain

Long-term barrier support, sun protection, and scheduled reassessment.

Students are taught to diagnose which stage a client's skin is currently in before selecting a treatment — never to select a treatment by condition name alone.

Why choose SmartBones Academy?

  • Expert clinicians & educators
  • Practical tools, case studies & clinical protocols
  • Small cohort support & interactive live classes
